About the Network

Cigna creates an integrated network of physician groups and hospitals that collaborate closely with each other and Cigna to help drive cost efficiency and create a more personal experience. The collaborative focus gives doctors patient-specific information, insights and resources to improve quality of care and drive better outcomes.

Typical Plan Structure

Your plan will vary based on what you discuss with your local Cigna representative, but here is a basic summary of how Cigna SureFit plans typically work:

Cigna SureFit

  • Primary care physician (PCP) selection is required
  • Referrals are required to see a specialist. Specialists must participate in the network aligned to the Cigna SureFit plan.
  • Out-of-network care is excluded with a Cigna SureFit plan, unless it's an emergency.

The SureFit Difference

  • Flexible benefits: Customizable solutions and capabilities that flex to fit the unique needs of customers and employers in a given market.
  • Highly competitive discounts: Customers save money when accessing doctors and hospitals in their focused network.
  • Delivery system evolution: Innovative ways of convening and collaborating with quality doctors and hospitals using a local lens, to increase efficiency and lower costs.
  • Interactive health decision support: Cigna Easy Choice Tool  and other resources give customers the power, insight, guidance and confidence to choose the coverage that fits them best.
  • Customer advocacy: A Cigna One Guide® personal guide provides customers with our highest level of personal support. The additional customer support helps employers save time and focus on running their businesses.
