Re–Framing the Approach to the Diagnosis and Treatment of Borderline Personality in Adolescents
Parents of teens are increasingly alarmed when their teen’s over-reactive, hyper-sensitive and impulsive behaviors worsen into cutting themselves, sexual acting out, alcohol and drug use, and suicidal threats, especially after romantic break-ups. An emerging Borderline Personality Disorder, also known as emotionally unstable personality is a serious mental illness, affecting 2% of the population, with fully 8% dying tragically by suicide. Dr. Matthews will explain the neurologic basis for this serious illness and the importance of early interventions.
