Customize your Hospital Indemnity Insurance policy

We can also help you customize your Hospital Indemnity Insurance coverage to fit your needs. Riders6 offer coverage for specific situations and can be added for an additional monthly amount. Consider adding one or more of the following riders for even more coverage (these summaries contain highlights only and are subject to change):

    Accident Fixed Indemnity Rider

Accidents happen. And the right coverage can help protect you from unexpected expenses. This rider pays a fixed indemnity benefit when you suffer covered injuries in a covered accident.

This rider also includes benefits for accidental death and dismemberment if an insured person passes away as a direct result of a covered accident.

    Cancer Recurrence Rider

If you are concerned with a recurring diagnosis of cancer, our Cancer Recurrence Benefit Rider may pay you additional benefits should you receive subsequent diagnoses of cancer. You will receive a percentage of your benefit amount (not to exceed an additional 100% of the selected benefit amount) upon additional diagnoses of cancer provided you have not received advice or treatment for at least two years from the date of your last diagnosis.

Heart Attack and Stroke Restoration Rider

The additional coverage provided by this rider will pay a percentage of your selected benefit amount should you suffer subsequent covered heart attacks, strokes, or require a qualifying heart transplant - not to exceed an additional 100% of the selected benefit amount. These benefits are payable if the date of your last diagnosis for a heart attack, stroke or heart transplant was at least two years before your current diagnosis.

    Specified Disease Benefit Rider

The Specified Disease Rider pays a lump sum benefit if you get a diagnosis* or procedure from a physician for one of the covered specified diseases.

*Diagnosis must be made within the United States

    Jim's story

One day, Jim was doing some yard work and felt chest pains. Jim’s wife, Susan, took no chances and called 911. It turns out that Jim was experiencing a mild heart attack. He was admitted to the hospital and stayed for two nights.

Jim had bought a Hospital Indemnity Insurance policy some years back, for less than 50 cents per day1, it seemed like a smart decision. He used the cash benefit from the policy to pay for his major health insurance plan’s deductible, which would have been a major out-of-pocket expense. The cash benefit also helped to pay for other expenses so he and Susan didn’t have to worry about household bills while he focused on his recovery.4
